Senator Sonko picks Vivo boss Polycarp Igathe as running mate
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mike Sonko said that he is happy to work with Igathe, adding that their names will be forwarded to IEBC.
“I know the Igathe’s qualifications and experience and I think I can work with him smoothly. I know I had agreements with my fellow “Team Nairobi” members but I think it’s now time to listen to the people and the President who have all rejected a politician to be my running mate,” said Mr. Sonko.
Earlier, Sonko had asked his social media followers to help him select a running mate, posting pictures of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Denis Waweru, Millicent Omanga, John Gakuo, Janet Ouko, Jimna Mbaru, Raymond Matiba, Prof. James Ole Kiyapi and Polycarp Igathe.
Sonko, who won the Jubilee party ticket after trouncing Peter Kenneth by more than 75,000 votes, will battle it out with ODM’s Governor Evans Kidero for the hotly contested Nairobi seat.
