Section of Kikuyu elders disown delegation that visited Raila Odingas rural home

A section of elders from the Kikuyu community have distanced themselves from elders who visited former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’a Bondo home last week.

The elders who are under “Kiama kia Ma” said the delegation to Raila’s home was neither sent by their council nor President Kenyatta.

They said the visit had caught them by surprise that the delegation had purported to be the representatives of the entire Mt Kenya region.

In what they called ”politics of division” the elders accused their counterparts of advancing personal interests.

The elders have vowed to fight back what they termed as ‘leaders with personal interests auctioning the Mt Kenya region” to the highest bidder ahead of the 2022 General Election.

On Saturday last week, ODM Raila Odinga played host to a number of Kikuyu elders at his rural home in what was seen as an endorsement of the ODM leader’s 2022 presidential bid.

Raila however dismissed the endorsement claims, saying the meeting was meant to cement the relationship between Kikuyu and Luo communities and other communities should come on board.

Mr. Odinga was speaking during a fundraising at the St. Michael’s and all Angels Cathedral Bondo ACK church in Bondo on Sunday.

“Waandishi wa habari ambao walisema ati jamaa walikuja hapa kuteua Raila, hapana! Mseme ukweli. Hakuna mtu alisema mambo kama hayo,” he added.

Nairobi businessman Jimmy Wanjigi who was the chief guest at the fundraising stated that now Jubilee party is crumbling, those who support Mr. Odinga should join ODM.
