Second dormitory razed at Karia Boys High School

Property of unknown value was on Monday destroyed after a fire razed down a dormitory at the Karia Boys High School in Kirinyaga Central constituency.

The fire was reported to have started at around 8:30pm when students were attending their evening classes.

According to Kirinyaga central Deputy county commissioner Daniel Ndege the dormitory had a capacity of 96 students.

No property was salvaged during the early morning inferno.

Two weeks ago, another dormitory, Longonot, which has a capacity of 86 students went up in flames under unclear circumstances.

The school principal Gideon Gikunda said action had been taken after January 17 incident.

Combined efforts of the students helped to put out the fire

Kirinyaga Central MP Munene Wambugu said he will not pay the ongoing dormitory construction: “Let the parent feel the pain NG CDF fund will not pay the contractor as we agreed because of the students’ indiscipline,”

The cause of fire is yet to be established.
