Sacked County ‘Ministers’ Reinstated by Court

Three of four Garissa County Executive Committee members sacked by Governor Nathif Jama last week have gone to court to challenge their dismissal.

Speaking in Garissa town, Idris Mukhtar of trade, Mukhtar Mulale of water and Salah Yakub of environment have termed their sacking unconstitutional and in bad faith.

While delivering his ruling, Justice Nzioka Wa Makau of the industrial court  granted the three CECs interim orders reinstating them to office until the case is heard and determined.

The order has also barred Garissa county assembly from debating names of four people nominated by the governor and forwarded to the assembly to replace the sacked CECs.

Governor Jama had sacked the four cabinet members on grounds that they had failed to deliver services and failure to implement policies.

Jama further added that complaints from the public also attributed to their sacking.
