Rogue matatu driver Frederick Owino who was filmed harassing motorist freed on bail

Frederick Owino, the rogue matatu driver who was caught on video harassing a female motorist, has been freed on Ksh. 90,000 cash bail.

The driver of the Mataara Sacco matatu registration number KCK 114P was captured in the undated amateur video recorded by the motorist.

In the video, he is heard saying: “Wewe nipige video haina shida” to which the lady responds: “Utaona, tusi yote.”

He then hits her car on the left side with his matatu, breaking her side mirror as he shouts: “Sitagharamia.”

The female motorist again responds: “Gonga tu, pasua!”

Owino is then seen driving ahead of the female motorist and smashing her car windscreen while barking “sitagharamia, umbwa!” and then drives off.

He was arrested on Saturday, February 27 after the motorist filed a report with the police. The matatu was also impounded.

On Monday, Owino was arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts and charged with malicious damage and a traffic offense.

He was released on cash bail after he pleaded not guilty to the two criminal counts.
