Robbery with violence charge slapped on thugs caught on CCTV robbing man in Kilimani

The suspects who were arrested in connection with a daylight robbery incident in Kilimani were on Friday arraigned at the Milimani law courts.

Among those arraigned was Ibrahim Abdi Hussein who was found in possession of a laptop and a mobile phone belonging to the robbery victim.

Hussein got an alternative count of handling stolen property.

The suspects have been detained until July 8 when their bail terms will be ruled.

Those arraigned in court include: Humphrey Minyata, Jahan Timothy Mzami, Mary Wambui, Ali Musa, Collins Munyasa Munanga, Adan Alio Ali and Ibrahim Hussein.

Investigating officers revealed that police had been trailing the suspects for some time.

According to the officers, the mode of operation for the suspects would be to commit the offences and immediately go to their hideouts after which they would resurface again after some time.

The four, according to the DCI, were arrested at their hideouts in Kawangware, Gatina and Pangani.

Detectives recovered among other things, a pocket knife, a jacket that one of the suspects had worn during the robbery and a pair of camouflage sneakers.

The early morning robbery showed the thugs approach a pedestrian who was carrying a backpack.

One of the thugs was wielding a knife which he pointed at the victim before his accomplice clocked the victim on the head with the butt of a pistol.

They then frisked him, took his mobile phone and his backpack before disappearing into an alleyway.

The video went viral on social media with Kenyans calling the DCI to expedite investigations and bring the thugs to book.
