Reprieve for Oriwo Boys High School as KNEC finally releases withheld KCSE results
Candidates who sat for the 2021 Kenya
Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) at Oriwo Boys High School in
Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County, have finally received their results more than a
month after the official release.
The results for all KCSE students at the
school were withheld by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) for 30
days.
KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere
had issued a notice to the school indicating that their results were
withheld on suspicion that they could have engaged in examination
irregularities.
More than 500 candidates who sat for the
examination and the entire school fraternity now have a reason to smile after
receiving the results on Friday evening.
The school principal Maurice Okal confirmed
to Citizen Digital that no candidate had their results canceled.
Mr. Okal said that although they are still
downloading the results before giving a comprehensive report on the overall
performance of all the 549 candidates, 521 have attained university entry
points.
He revealed that overall, the school managed
to clock a mean grade of 8.215 with only 28 students failing to meet the
threshold of C plus and above.
Ten students scored A-minus, 61 B
plus, 152 B plain, 167 B minus and 130
C+, 26 C and 2 C –.
