Raila’s sister Wenwa appointed KEMRI Board member

Wenwa Akinyi Odinga Oranga has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).

A gazette notice dated May 21 said Amb. Oranga will serve in the position for a period of three years, with effect from May 17, 2021.

She has previously served as Consul General at the Kenya Consulate in Los Angeles, California; Senior Assistant Commission Secretary at the Commission for Higher Education (CHE); Chief Chemist of the Pyrethrum Board of Kenya and Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi.

She has a PhD in Organic/Natural Products Chemistry.

Health CS Mutahi appointed her alongside Prof. Timothy Mwololo Waema, Dr. George Njoroge and Marstella Bahati Kahindi.

In the same gazette notice, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua revoked the appointment of Franklin Makola as chairperson of the Kathiani Water and Sewerage Services Provider Board.

Makola has been replaced with Philip Mutua Ndolo.

The Machakos Governor also revoked the appointment of Thomas Mweu Kasua as the chairperson of the Machakos Water and Sewerage Services Provider Board.

Kasua has been replaced with Eng. Joel Kiilu.

Additionally, the nomination of Cecilia Mbinya Sereka as a member of the Mavoko Water and Sewerage Services Provider Board was also revoked.

She has been replaced with Jerusa Susan Omari.

Other nominations include:

  • David Ngugi (Chairman of the National Council for Population and Development Board)
  • Mohamed Hashim replaces David Ngugi as a member of the LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority Board
  • Nicholas Edris Omondi (Attorney for the County Government of Kisumu)
  • Alice Kimemia (Non-executive Chairperson of the Laikipia County Revenue Board)
