President Uhuru Kenyatta signs into law 4 parliamentary bills

President Uhuru Kenyatta has approved key Bills including the 2021 Finance and Appropriations bill clearing the path for government spending for the new financial year .

Among other key bills cleared include the Second Supplementary Appropriation Act of 2021 which reduced overall spending for the just ended financial year by 8.2 billion shillings and the County Allocation Revenue Act.

New taxes which take effect from today are expected to raise the cost of living among Kenyans squeezing both personal and household incomes further.

Among the taxes becoming effective include a new 16% value added tax to the supply of LPG gas and greater excise duty for telephone and data services which will result in higher airtime and internet costs

However, Kenyans have escaped further taxation after Members of Parliament rejected new taxes on bread and boda boda.
