President Ruto trashes Raila's demands, rules out possibility of a handshake

Speaking on Monday, the President ruled out the possibility of a handshake with his political rival and once again defended his election, saying the election was carried out transparently and results published for all to see.

“Mi nataka niwaambie mapema mchana, my friends, sahau mambo ya handshake. Na musituambie kwamba hamutaki mambo ya handshake, we can see you si tunawajua, hii ukora yenu ya kila siku tunajua,” said Ruto.

President Ruto while defending his election as President, said poll commission IEBC conducted a transparent election and he enjoyed full mandate from the people Kenya.

“Chebukati na IEBC walifungua server zamani. Form 34A kutoka kila polling station iko kwa portal, Form 34B iko kwa portal. Form 34C iko kwa portal. Hii server wanasema ifunguliwe ni server gani?” posed Ruto.

His deputy Rigathi Gachagua also faulted the Azimio la Umoja Coalition Party leadership, saying there is no room for a political truce between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“Sasa ati analete fujo ndio wanaongea pale nimetumiwa message, ati anataka kuingia kwa serikali ya huyo Rais wetu. Si Rais yuko hapa. Mnataka tumkaribishe ama aende akiendanga?. Unajua, you can fool some people sometimes, but you cannot fool all the people all the time,” said Gachagua.
President Ruto, moreover maintained that his government will serve the interests of Kenyans from across the political divide and not give in to a few individuals whom he claimed were hellbent on destabilizing the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“The government of Kenya is not going to be blackmailed to serve the interests of few people, the families and their businesses. That will not happen. We are going to serve the people of Kenya. Hatuwezi kukubali ati yinyi watu kidogo mnapanga maandamano hapo, mnaitwa nusu mkate, sijui nini pesa, hiyo msahau kabisa haiwezekani. Na mtafute mtu mwingine wa kutisha, sio mimi, said the President.

The day started with a meeting at State House where President William Ruto met Jubilee MPs, who were allied to the Azimio la Umoja Coalition Political Party.

The meeting attended by East African Legislative MP and Jubilee Party Director of Elections Kanini Kega, former Murang’a County Woman MP Sabina Chege who were highly visible in Azimio campaigns portrayed a shift of allegiance to the Kenya Kwanza side.
Speaking at a rally in Nairobi's Kamukunji grounds, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader Raila Odinga once again rejected the outcome of last year’s presidential election and demanded for an independent forensic audit of the IEBC systems and election results.
