President, First Lady lead Kenyans in prayer on Huduma Day

President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta led the nation at the second National Prayer Service on Huduma Day.

The inter-faith service held at State House, Nairobi on Saturday was presided over by a cross-section of religious leaders.

Religious leaders delivered scripture readings, offered sermons and led in thematic intercessory prayers.

They covered thanksgiving, repentance and forgiveness, national healing and restoration, national aspirations, and leadership and family.

“This is a day that we have agreed to dedicate our nation to God. We have undergone serious challenges, we may have won a number of battles, but the war is yet to be won. We need to continue to ask our creator to stand with us,” President Kenyatta said.

He thanked health workers and essential service providers saying they have gone above and beyond the call of duty ‘during this most difficult time’ of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Kama kuna mtu mimi nimefanyia makosa, naomba msamaha. Kama kuna mmoja wenu ambaye amenikosea, mimi nimemsamehe. Hiyo ndio njia pekee ya kusonga na kuendelea mbele…” he added.

The inter-faith prayer service was followed by President of the United Republic of Tanzania John Pombe Magufuli.

In a message delivered to President Kenyatta, he expressed Tanzania’s solidarity with Kenyans as they pray for the wellbeing of their country.
