Pokot residents protest Rutos shoot to kill order

Residents of West Pokot County have protested the shoot to kill order by Deputy President William Ruto saying this will cost lives of many innocent people from the Pokot community.

The residents, who spoke to Chamgei FM in Kapenguria, said President Uhuru Kenyatta should intervene and offer better solutions, adding that the Pokot community has been seriously affected by the insecurity problem.

They appealed to President Kenyatta to take charge of security matters in the country, saying the deputy president has had some political differences with some leaders in the region and this might affect the search for a permanent solution on insecurity among the Pokot, Tugens, Marakwets and Turkanas.

This comes after Deputy President William Ruto issued a shoot to kill command in Sibilo Baringo North arguing that cattle rustlers should be treated like any other armed criminal.
