Peter Mugure case: Postmortem for the 3 bodies postponed

A postmortem exam for three bodies linked to the case involving Major Peter Mugure has been postponed.

It was to take place on Tuesday at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

However, detectives told Citizen Digital that the autopsy has been postponed to allow further investigations.

This comes a day after Mugure was arraigned in court as investigations into the murder of Joyce Syombua and her two children continues.

He was detained for 21 days after police asked more time saying there are complexities in trying to unravel the murders.

“We believe there are other suspects still at large who are involved and police need to trace and arrest them,” said Peter Mailanyi, Central Region Senior Deputy Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mugure was detained at Nanyuki Police Station while his co-accused Collins Pamba will be held at Naromoru Police Station.

Bodies believed to be of Mugure’s estranged wife Syombua (31) and children; Shanice Maua (10) and Prince Michael (5), were discovered on Saturday.

The children’s bodies were stacked on top of their mother’s.

The three had been reported missing for 21 days.

The matter is set to be mentioned on December 9, 2019.
