Slain police officer Pauline Wakasa buried in Malava

Pauline Wakasa, a police officer who was shot dead by a cop attached to CS Fred Matiang’i’s office, has been laid to rest.

Friends and family who gathered at her parents home in Matsakha, Malava eulogised the 31-year-old as a loving and caring person.

According to her boss, Kilimani Sub-county Police Commander Vitalis Otieno, she was a dedicated officer who performed her duties diligently with professionalism.

Police Constable Hudson Wakise allegedly shot Pauline Wakasa before turning the gun on himself.

Wakise was attached to the VIP protection unit of Dr’ Matiang’i.

Preliminary investigations revealed that there had been a domestic altercation on Tuesday evening.

It is reported that Wakise, who had been off duty since April 1, 2021, went back to work before leaving at 3pm and retiring to his residence near the GSU camp.

He is later on alleged to have shot dead his estranged wife before turning the gun on himself.

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said the two bodies were discovered at their home.

CS Matiang’i sent a message of condolence to the families of the two officers, mourning them as “young and vibrant” cops with their “brilliant futures tragically ended.”

“I am deeply pained by the tragic incident involving PC Hudson Wakise and his wife PC Pauline Wakasa both young and vibrant Police officers with brilliant futures tragically ended in their shocking demise,” wrote the CS,

“It’s a rude awakening to psychosocial challenges amongst some of our young officers that we have no choice but to now pay greater attention to. My sincere condolences to their families and friends.”
