More than 10,000 university students and young professionals are set to benefit from the Global Management Challenge (GMC) by 2030.
The sixth edition of the GMC competition which was launched in Nairobi on Wednesday attracted over 7,000 teams from 35 countries. Participants will engage in a real-world business simulation, testing their decision-making skills in strategy, marketing, production, human resources, and finance.
The program aimed at enhancing business acumen and
employability through a competitive global simulation will see winners of the
Kenyan edition advance to the global finals set for June 2025 in Macau,
China.
GMC Kenya Founder Asim Shah who spoke at the launch underscored the programme’s impact on employability saying, “Beyond
networking, the Global Management Challenge connects participants with global
industry leaders through the right mix of upskilling and exposure, enhancing
their employability in today’s competitive job market.”
“We welcome the partnership with MRX Media, who, through their grassroots and social media reach, will put Kenya’s youth on the global map,” he added.
The GMC programme was hailed as a key gateway for young professionals into blue-chip companies amid rising youth unemployment in the country, with past participants securing positions in leading multinational organizations.
The 2025 edition is in partnership with MRX Media, a
youth-focused movement empowering individuals through mentorship, talent
development, and financial literacy.
MRX Director, Rachel Muthoni who was also at the event
noted that a report had shown that young people are actively looking for new opportunities.
“Our data indicates that our young people are not idle,
they are simply searching for an opportunity to shine. GMC Kenya gives them a
chance to showcase their talents on the world stage,” said Muthoni.
The GMC competition simulates a competitive business environment where teams manage virtual companies as each team makes strategic decisions over multiple rounds, with financial and operational performance evaluated through GMC’s proprietary online simulator.
The top-performing teams will proceed to the national
finals, with Kenya’s best team earning a chance to compete at the international
level in Macau.
GMC Kenya is now encouraging students
and young professionals to take advantage of this opportunity to register inorder to sharpen their business skills, expand their networks, and accelerate their careers.
