Outcry as Class One pupils asked to report with desks

Parents and teachers of Moto Primary school have cried foul over what they termed as being neglected by the leadership of Kuresoi North Constituency after pupils who are reporting to Class One were asked to come in with new desks due to lack of funding.

The parents complained that for every new admission, pupils were required to report with new desks made by local carpenters.

According to the school’s head teacher Mr. Joseph Mungai, the shortage in desks was caused by lack of funding at the constituency level especially NG-CDF which makes it hard to run some school affairs

“Our school stands between the border of Kuresoi North Constituency and Molo, hence, administratively we are in Kuresoi North but Education wise we are in Molo hence the confusion,” he said adding that most of the existing desks are broken.

One of the parents, James Mungai, complained of the poor infrastructure in the school such as lack of doors and cracked walls among others.

Another parent, Teresia Mumbi, complained that they were forced to part with Ksh.1, 200 to buy the desks from local carpenters.

They are now calling upon Kuresoi North Member of Parliament who is also the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Kipkemboi Cheboi to come to their aid and help fund the school through CDF.

Mr. Cheboi could not be reached for comments as calls went unanswered.
