Halima Jemtai, a friend to the family, said she rushed them to the hospital but it was unfortunate one patient passed on.

“We do not know what caused the illness, we suspect it is the food they ate,” she said.

Jemtai said that the nurses on duty played a critical role in saving the life of the three victims who had already started showing signs of dehydration.

According to Leah Too, a relative of the family, it is suspected that the food taken by the family – which included maize and beans – could have contained aflatoxin chemical components.
