One dead, over 20 others injured in Nairobi-Naivasha Highway accident

One person has been confirmed dead and over 20 others injured following a road accident at Kinungi area on the Nairobi– Naivasha Highway.

The Sunday 3am accident occurred after the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off a cliff and roll several times.

The Mbukinya Sacco bus carrying over 60 passengers was heading to Nairobi from Shamakholo in Western Kenya.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru said the deceased succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Naivasha Referral Hospital where the injured were taken.

According to the survivors, the driver and his conductor were drunk during the incident.

Police have launched a manhunt for both the driver and conductor who are said to have escaped unhurt.
