Odinga: Fight corruption in counties

CORD leader Raila Odinga has challenged the 47 county governments to fight corruption in order prevent devolution from collapsing.

Odinga criticized the national government for what he says is a plot to kill devolution.

The former Prime Minister was speaking during the inaugural sitting of the refurbished Siaya County Assembly.

Odinga said the government’s failure to increase funding to the counties, the weakening of the Senate and the establishment of the Devolution Ministry were all manifestations that the national government was undermining devolution.

Odinga also challenged the National Government to fully transfer functions to the counties in order to strengthen devolution.

In Ukambani, Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka asked parliament to investigate and establish whether the funds raised through the Eurobond were stashed in personal accounts.

Kalonzo claimed that corruption in government had reached alarming levels.

The Wiper leader was speaking at Mlolongo, Machakos county where he launched Voter and identity cards registration.

Kalonzo also conducted a series of party legislation drives aimed at revamping the Wiper Democratic Party.
