Nyamira County Assembly Speaker dismisses court order

Nyamira County Assembly Speaker Moffat Teya has dismissed a court order on reinstatement of Duke Omoti (Kiabonyoru ward MCA) as his deputy.

According to him, the Kisumu High Court directive has been overtaken by events.

Teya said the order was supposed to be presented within 14 days when he was impeached by the MCAs two months ago.

On Friday, Justice Mathews Nduma issued orders regarding the case before him filed by Omoti on August 31, 2018.

He directed that the 1st respondent (Nyamira County Assembly Speaker Moffat Teya) and the 2nd respondent (Nyamira County Government refrain from interfering with the duties of Omoti as the deputy speaker.

This he said pending the hearing of the case on October 24, 2018.

Immediately after Omoti was impeached, Bonyamatuta ward MCA Robinson Mocheche was voted in by the MCAs as their new deputy speaker.
