NTSA suspends 121 public transport operators for non-compliance
The National Transport
and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended the operating licenses of 121 Public
Service Vehicle (PSV) operators for flouting traffic regulations.
Some of the PSV
operators that have been suspended include: 2K-NN Savings and Credit
Co-Operative Society Limited/Ngorika Line Travellers Company Limited, 2MK
Modern Co. Limited, 2ML Sacco Society Limited, and 2TS Savings and Credit
Cooperative Society Limited.
Others on the list are
Kasarani Trans Limited, Kazana Travellers Services Limited, Kemoa Safaris Sacco
Ltd, Kericho Travelers Savings and Credit Co-Operative Society, Kienya
Travellers Sacco Ltd, Kimawa Express Sacco Ltd, Kwanza Kobos Sacco, and Libera
Executive Limited, among others.
Additionally, 3KEN
Savings and Credit Co-Operative Society Limited, 8B Savings and Credit
Co-Operative Society Ltd, City Tram Shuttle Limited, and Joy Kenya Services
Limited, among others, have also been suspended.
"This is to notify
the public that the Authority has suspended 121 PSVs-Public Transport Operators
(PTOs) for failing to comply with the provisions of Section 5(1) of the
National Transport and Safety Authority (Operation of PSV Regulations) 2014,"
NTSA said in a statement.
"Members of the
Public are hereby advised not to board vehicles belonging to the suspended
Saccos/Companies. "
NTSA added that traffic
police officers across the country have been instructed to impound any vehicles
belonging to the affected operators that continue to operate contrary to the
suspension order.
"The Traffic
Department has been advised to impound any vehicles belonging to the 121
Saccos/Companies found operating contrary to the suspension," said
NTSA.
