Nkaissery Extends Lamu Curfew
The curfew which was initially issued by Inspector General David Kimaiyo has been extended to 25th January 2015.
Nkaissery however says the curfew which was to end on wednesday will now exclude Lamu Island and only cover the Lamu mainland.
The interior CS has told Lamu mainland residents to stay indoors between the 6:30pm to 6:30am curfew, except with permission from the county commander.
Kimaiyo had issued the initial curfew in Lamu on July 19th following killing of close to 100 people in Lamu by armed attackers.
The curfew has however been met in the past with protests from residents Law Society of Kenya and some opposition leaders who argue that the curfew is killing the Lamu economy.
