Nakuru: Doctor kills his two children aged 3 and 5 before attempting suicide

Police in Nakuru are investigating an incident in which a senior doctor is accused of killing his two children, ages three and five, before attempting suicide on Saturday night.

Police officers who broke down the door into the house found the doctor lying still on the bed, according to Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri.

“Jana mwendo wa saa tatu hivi tulipata report kuwa kunaweza kuwa na kitu ilifanyika kwa apartment moja pale milimani,” Kiraguri told the media.

Neighbors at the apartments had alerted police to the fact that something unusual appeared to be happening within the house where the doctor and his family lived.

“When the officers went there and broke down the door, they found the doctor lying on the bed, his kids were in the bedroom, dead,” the police boss explained.

After accessing the crime scene, they also found several vials of drugs and syringes as well as knife.

The police commander said that they are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine what killed the two minors, aside from the fact that the doctor who had regained consciousness admitted to injecting them with an unspecified drug.

The doctor’s  wife was away in Nairobi during the incident.

The bodies of the two minors have been removed to the Nakuru Municipal mortuary as probe into the incident continues.
