Nairobi County Speaker grilled over assembly chaos

Nairobi County Assembly Speaker, Alex ole Magelo, has been grilled by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over chaos that rocked the assembly on Thursday, September 29 when a motion to impeach Governor Evans Kidero was set to be tabled.

Speaking after questioning at Integrity Center, Nairobi, on Friday, October 7, Magelo, however, said his deputy, Ken Mondi, will have to appear before anti-graft body as he was absent from the chambers during the chaos by Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

On summoning Kidero to appear before the assembly on Tuesday over the ouster motion, the County Assembly Speaker said it is only a formality to respond to allegations by MCAs behind the motion that was filed on Tuesday.

Magelo has at the same time intimated that he is ready to vacate office should the impeachment motion being prepared by Makongeni MCA, Peter Imwatok, against him see the light of day.
