MP Sylvanus Osoro arrested at Simeon Nyachaes burial

South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has been arrested at the funeral service of the late Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae at the Gusii Stadium in Kisii.

According to police, the MP was arrested for allegedly planning to disrupt the funeral service.

However, Osoro, who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, claims the arrest is politically motivated.

His arrest came shortly after Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi was also arrested for undisclosed reasons. Maangi was arrested by police at Kisii High School as he waited to welcome Deputy President William Ruto to the burial of Simeon Nyachae.

The two leaders were taken to the Kisii Central Police Station for interrogation.
