Mombasa County Assembly closed after 4 MCAs, 3 staffers test positive for COVID-19

Mombasa County Assembly has suspended sittings for two weeks after four members and three staffers reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

Mombasa Members of County Assembly (MCAs) were recently tested after it emerged that one of them had contracted the disease.

The Assembly Deputy Speaker Fadhili Makarani confirmed the impending closure saying it will formally be announced by the speaker during the course of the day.

Makarani further stated that all MCAs are hence expected to undergo self-isolation for the two-week period during which the House will also be fumigated.

This comes as cases of confirmed positive COVID-19 infections in Mombasa continue to rise in a trend that is causing increased anxiety.
