Moi Girls Eldoret shut down indefinitely following students strike

Moi Girls High School in Eldoret was on Wednesday shut down indefinitely after the students went on strike over alleged high-handedness.

The learners, in their strike, called for the removal of the school principal Christine Chumba accusing her of harassing them as well as teachers.

They further alleged mismanagement of funds, lack of electricity in the institution, and closure of the school canteen.

They also protested the alleged change of diet as well as the abolishment of entertainment activities in the school.

Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Gitonga Mbaka, while announcing the school closure, said the learners were given until end of day latest to vacate the school compound.
