Modern Coast passengers to be refunded via MPesa starting Dec 15
Modern Coast will be refunding customers who had bought tickets following the suspension of the company’s operating license.
A statement issued on Friday said tickets for travel dates between December 12 and 15 were cancelled following the NTSA ban.
”
Frustrated passengers had thronged the Modern Coast offices along Accra road in Nairobi lamenting that they were stranded.
They demanded for an immediate refund of money paid for tickets.
”I have gone to their office they have told us their refund will start on Monday,” Elizabeth Aoko, a traveler said.
”Mimi ningependa pesa zangu nirudishiwe sijui ni lini watarudi kazini,” Evelyn Odero said.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) suspended operating license for Modern Coast following fatal crashes this week.
In one of the incidents, two Modern Coast buses collided leaving 7 people dead and 62 others injured.
NTSA has since directed that all the company’s 88 buses be inspected afresh with police on high alert for Modern Coast vehicles operating during the suspension period.
All Modern Coast drivers are also to undertake a refresher driving course.
The bus company has also been ordered to submit its internal safety policies and procedures for evaluation by the regulator.
