Missing plane found, no survivors: Fly SAX
No survivors have been found at the crash site of the missing plane, Fly SAX Chairman Charles Wako has revealed.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have received information from the teams reaching the crash site that there are no survivors,” a statement from Fly SAX also confirmed.
Rangers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) had arrived at the site at around 1pm on Thursday before the announcement was made.
The missing plane, a Cesna aircraft with registration No. 5Y CAC had ten people onboard: 8 passengers and two female crew.
They were part of the multi-agency team conducting a search and rescue operation after the missing plane was spotted by a chopper earlier in the morning.
“At 7:02am one of Fly SAX recovery helicopters sighted the wreckage of the missing plane at Elephant Point in Aberdares,” a statement from the plane operator said on Thursday.
One of the passengers had been identified as Khetia Kishani, a prominent businessman from Kitale.
The missing plane was enroute to Nairobi on Tuesday evening when it went off the radar at 5:20pm.
