Ministry of Health announces 105 new coronavirus cases, 68 recoveries

103 Kenyans and 2 foreigners tested positive for the new coronavirus between Friday and Saturday, the Ministry of Health has said in a statement.

The new cases which were from a sample pool of 2,868 samples push the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 36,829 and the cumulative number of tests so far to 514,482.

83 of the new cases are males while 22 are females aged between 2 and 75 years.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows:

Nairobi 33, Busia 15, Mombasa 9, Bungoma 8, Kiambu 4, Nakuru 4, Bomet 4, Garissa 4, Taita Taveta 4, Kajiado 3, Kakamega 3, Kisumu 3, Machakos 2, Meru 2, Kitui 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Murang’a 1, Nyeri and Laikipia 1 case each.

In terms of sub County distribution, the 33 cases in Nairobi, are from Roysambu (6), Westlands (4), Dagoretti North, Embakasi East, Kasarani and Makadara (3) cases each, Kamukunji, Langata and Starehe (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Embakasi West, Kibra and Ruaraka (1) case each.

In Busia, the 15 cases are from Matayos (14) and Teso North (1).

In Mombasa, the 9 cases are all from Jomvu, while the 8 cases in Bungoma, are all from Kanduyi.

The 4 cases in Kiambu, are from Kiambu Town (2), Gatundu South and Ruiru (1) case each, the 4 cases in Nakuru, are from Nakuru East and Nakuru West (2) cases each.

The 4 cases in Bomet, are all from Bomet Central while the 4 cases in Garissa, are all from Dadaab.

Taita Taveta’s 4 cases are all from Voi while Kajiado’s 3 cases are from Loitokitok (2) and Kajiado North (1).

All the 3 cases in Kakamega are all from Malava, while the 3 cases in Kisumu, are from Kisumu Central (2) and Kisumu East (1).

The 2 cases in Machakos, are all from Athi River, while in Meru, the 2 cases are from Igembe South and Imenti South (1) case each,

The 2 cases in Kitui, are from Kitui South and Mwingi Central (1) case each.

The Health Ministry has also announced 68 new recoveries, saying 38 of those were people under the home-based care system while 30 were discharged from various hospitals across the country.

No deaths were reported between Friday and Saturday.

The death toll from the coronavirus therefore remains 646.
