Mike Sonko causes a scene at burial of late Machakos Senator Kabaka
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday caused scene as he went on angry outburst attacking State officials and perceived political rivals at the burial of the late Machakos Senator Boniface Kabaka.
Sonko, who was publicly speaking for the first time since he was impeached last week, claimed that government operatives were behind the death of Senator Kabaka, demanding that thorough investigations be conducted into the legislator’s demise.
He went further to vow that he would hire a legal team to seek justice for the death of the late senator.
In a no-holds-barred rant, Sonko said the late Senator had predicted his death.
“Marehemu alijua atakufa. Aliongea. Kwanini aongee atakufa alafu akufe,” he said.
On his impeachment, Sonko alleged that Senators acted on “orders from above” to ensure that he was ejected from office.
“Ma senators msiogope… Waiguru ile makosa alifanya mlimsamehea, mimi kwa sababu nime defend na ku protect Constitution mmenipeleka nyumbani kwa sababu mmepigiwa simu ati orders from above,” said the former Nairobi County boss.
He further tore into the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) spearheaded by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, terming the process as fake.
Sonko seized the moment to play local politics accusing Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of being misled into endorsing the BBI.
“Kalonzo Musyoka hawa watu hawana uzuri na wewe… they are all conmen. Sai wanakutaka ndio wakamba wapitishe BBI… Hiyo BBI ni bandia. Sisi hatutakubali kuwa misled,” said Sonko, urging Kalonzo to join Deputy President William Ruto’s political camp.
“Fikiria mara mbili party leader wetu. Kaa chini na William Ruto, mkubaliane mahali mtapeleka hii inchi. Usikubali kutapeliwa. Hawa watu wanakutumia kama toilet paper. Huko mbele watapotea.”
The late Senator Kabaka, who succumbed at the Nairobi Hospital, was laid to rest at Mikuyu in Masinga Sub-County, Machakos County.
