Michael Mubea among 14 shortlisted to replace EACC boss Waqo

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Chief Executive Officer Michael Mubea is among 14 shortlisted candidates to replace Halakhe Waqo at the commission.

Also in the running is Murshid Mohamed a former National Police Service Commission (NPSC) commissioner .

In a publication in the local dailies, the anti-graft agency invited the candidates to attend scheduled interviews starting November 27, 2018.

“The shortlisted candidates are invited to attend an interview at Service Commission, Commission House, Harambee Boardroom, on dates and times specified,” the notice read in part.

Other candidates shortlisted are; Humphrey Okuku Nakitari, Lucy Wanja, Jel Lusweti, Twalib Abdalla, Abdi Ahmed, Cyrus Odhiambo, Reuben Kipkemo, Chege Nthenya and Jilo Alexi. Vincent Omari, Sarah Mwakiun and James Mungai have also been shortlisted.

Last month, the commission’s chairman Eliud Wabukala, asked qualified candidates to apply for the position of CEO saying Waqo’s term was coming to an end.

Wabukala said applicants must be citizens of Kenya and possess a post-graduate degree from a recognised university.

He noted that, applicants must have at least 10 years of proven experience at management level, meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution, obtain clearance certificates from the EACC, the Kenya Revenue Authority, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Higher Education Loans Board and the Credit Reference Bureau.

The successful candidate’s name will be will be forwarded the National Assembly for vetting and approval.

Waqo, who was the commission’s first CEO since EACC was established in 2012 to replace the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, took office in January 2013 after being sworn in at the Supreme court of Kenya.
