Robbery suspects Martin Simiyu Wabale, Richard Wekesa Wafula arrested

Two robbery with violence suspects Martin Simiyu Wabale and Richard Wekesa Wafula have been arrested.

A team of detectives based at Langata and Karen arrested the two after they allegedly posted a fake nursing job on August 14, 2020.

“A member of the public was lured to a deserted street in Karen-Miotoni road where he was robbed off a mobile phone, a glucometer, a dust coat, cash among other valuables at gunpoint,” police said.

Martin Simiyu Wabale and Richard Wekesa Wafula are said to have fled from Nairobi after the incident and were arrested at Kimilili in Bungoma County.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) the two are believed to belong to a wider syndicate.

Investigations revealed that unsuspecting Kenyans are lured using lucrative job vacancies that are fictitious.

Reports indicate that job seekers who show up for a meeting with the suspects are often directed to secluded areas and then robbed at gunpoint.

A spot check on social media pages unearthed several complaints from people saying they had also been conned.
