Man kills sister-in-law before committing suicide in Embu

A 37-year-old man stabbed his brother’s wife to death on Friday evening before committing suicide at Runganga Village in Embu North Sub-county.

The suspect identified as Charles Njeru is said to have attacked his sister-in-law, Rosaline Kagendo aged 50 at her house in Runganga village, stabbing her several times with a kitchen knife before disappearing.

Confirming the incident, Nembure Sub-location Assistant Chief Joseph Nyaga Njiru said the suspect found his sister-in-law preparing bananas that she was to take to Embu market on Saturday.

It could not be immediately established why the man committed the act.

The administrator noted that one of the woman’s daughters heard her mother screaming and when she rushed into the house he found Njeru stabbing her.

The girl then rushed out of the house and raised an alarm attracting neighbours who took the woman to Embu Level Five Hospital, where she died upon arrival.

The man’s body was found by local residents hanging from a tree at the neighbouring village.

Police moved his body to the Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary.
