Man charged with conning Kiambu Chief Whip of Ksh.4M

A middle-aged man was on Friday arraigned before a Thika court for allegedly conning the Kiambu Chief Whip of over Ksh.4 million in a land deal.

John Gaiti Muhoho was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Ann Maina facing five counts of pretending to be in a position to sell a parcel of land at Juja farm.

He was charged together with two other suspects; Samuel Wairegi Gathura and Patricia Wangui who were not present in court. The two had earlier been arraigned before another Thika court facing three charges each in the particular case.

The counts included; altering false documents, obtaining money with false pretense, forgery of land transfer documents, conspiracy to obtain money using false pretense and false registration of title deed.

Court was told that the accused persons pretended to be in a position to sell a 3-acre piece of land to Kiambu Chief Whip, Elijah Njoroge in September, 2017 at a cost of Ksh.7 million.

Njoroge is said to have paid Ksh.4 million to one of the suspects but later realised he had been duped.

The cases facing the three will be heard on November 7. The suspect was released on a bond of Ksh.2 million and a surety of similar amount.
