A key suspect linked to the murder of a Chuka University student who was killed on Friday night has been arrested in Kiambu County.

Confirming the incident, Meru South OCPD Beatrice Kiragori said detectives arrested the accused, Peter Ng’ang’a, who is an estate manager with the Ministry of Housing, in Kiambu town on Tuesday.

“Yesterday officers trailed the suspect to Kiambu County where they arrested him,” she said.

Kiragori told Citizen Digital that Ng’ang’a allegedly killed the student after a fight in the bar where they had been drinking.

“He followed the student after the fight and killed him,” she said.

The OCPD asked members of the public to be disciplined when they go drinking.

Meanwhile, police in Mt Elgon, Bungoma County have launched a manhunt for a primary school teacher, Robert Matui, who allegedly killed his wife on Tuesday night following a domestic fight.

Mt Elgon OCPD John Oditi said police are following crucial leads that could lead to the arrest of the suspect, and urged residents to volunteer any information that could lead to his arrest.
