Leave NASA and focus on ODM, MP tells Raila

Uriri Member of Parliament Mark Nyamita has appealed to opposition leader Raila Odinga to leave the National Super Alliance coalition and concentrate on ODM, saying other NASA principals are not committed in the coalition.

Nyamita pointed out that to enhance unity in the opposition, NASA affiliate parties ought to be dissolved into one outfit failure to which ODM should chart its own course.

“Raila Odinga needs to focus on strengthening ODM because truly it’s only ODM he can trust. If other coalition partners still believe there is unity in the opposition we should be magnanimous enough to dissolve the affiliate parties and have one party called NASA. In the absence of that, then let us focus on ODM,” said Nyamita, who was speaking after attending a county dialogue forum in Migori.

The ODM legislator claimed that some parties in NASA were out to sabotage Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement by not honouring the coalition’s agreement, adding there is no need for the parties to claim unity for a course but desert it at the final hour.

“We are still open to negotiating with our colleagues, but what we have seen is that you cannot be surrounded by people who are taking you to marry a girl and they are interested in her more than you are and expect they will say good words about you to her,” said Mr. Nyamita.

The MP asked other NASA parties; Wiper, Amani National Congress and FORD-Kenya, to appreciate ODM as it had sacrificed a lot for them in the sharing of leadership slots in Parliament.

The legislator said ODM MPs will not sit back and watch as the agreement among parties in NASA is disrespected.

Last week, Mr. Odinga indicated readiness of the Orange party to go it alone in future political contests, should the affiliate parties not agree on how to forge ahead.
