Kwale County Governor Fatuma Achani has officially opened the Bonje Dispensary in Mwamdudu village, Kasemeni ward, Kinango Sub-county.

The dispensary is set to serve over 3,000 residents from the four neighboring villages of Chongongwe, Mwangoka, Zagwaru, and Bonje.

While addressing the local residents, Governor Achani emphasized the county government's commitment to improving healthcare services.

She highlighted that this commitment is reflected in the construction and renovation of health facilities, the provision of essential medicines, and the recruitment of more healthcare workers to ensure residents receive the necessary treatment.

"It is our sole duty as the government to ensure our facilities are fully equipped and operational", said Achani.

So far, the county has constructed approximately 178 health facilities and employed 1,800 health workers as part of efforts to improve the healthcare sector.

In addition, the county has engaged 1,632 Community Health Promoters (CHPs), who have been trained with medical skills and provided with aid kits to assist residents in villages and remote areas.

Governor Achani further acknowledged the challenges posed by delays in the disbursement of funds from the national government, which has affected the timely supply of medicines to many facilities.

Echoing her sentiments, Kasemeni Ward MCA Victor Safari noted that while the county is facing financial constraints, the county government remains committed to providing essential services to its residents.

On their part, residents of Kasemeni expressed their gratitude for the government's efforts in ensuring services reach the grassroots level.

"We are grateful to Mama Achani for opening this dispensary, which is now close to our homes. The long-distance travel to seek treatment has been greatly reduced," said Mary Manyata, a resident of Bonje.

Also present at the event were CECM Health Francis Gwama, Chief Officers of Health Dr. Kitsao Mjimba (Preventive Health) and Athman Mwashando (Curative Health), among other county officials.
