Kisumu: Fight over Ksh.200 leaves one man dead, another hospitalised
The disagreement reportedly arose after the two men sold a pair of safari boots and were supposed to split the proceeds.
According to Kisumu Central Sub-County Police Commander Peter Mulai, the suspect, identified as Nicholas Otieno, punched the deceased on the left side of his jaw, causing him to fall backward and hit his head.
The injured man was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival due to severe head trauma.
After learning of his death, enraged members of the public turned on Otieno, beating him nearly to death before police intervened.
Otieno is currently admitted under police custody at Kisumu County Hospital and is expected to face murder charges upon his discharge.
