Kisii: Main suspect behind lynching of four elderly women over witchcraft allegations arrested
Police in Kisii have arrested the main
suspect in an incident where four elderly women were lynched in October 2021 on
suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
Rioma sub-county Commander Benjolife Munuve
said Joseph Abuga Mironga was arrested by a contingent of officers who have been
trailing him for more than a year; he had always managed to stay a step ahead.
The suspect went missing when sleuths from
the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched a search for
individuals who publicly lynched the elderly women in Marani.
The officers are still searching for eight more
suspects in connection with the murders.
The arrest of Abuga raises to 14 the number
of those arrested and detained in connection with the murders.
Families of the slain elderly women have
appealed for speedy investigations for justice to be served.
