Kevin Mboya finally speaks up after hours of keeping Kenyans waiting

Digital marketer, content creator and YouTuber Kevin Mboya has finally responded after hours of silence since posting he was traveling from Nairobi to Kwale to surprise his girlfriend on her birthday.

Sharing on his YouTube channel, Mboya said his trip didn't go as he had expected and he was heartbroken to a point where he returned with the same now-viral bouquet of flowers he was meant to surprise her with.

A dejected Kevin, whose romantic overtures rocked the country, shared that he was emotionally in a bad place and unable to divulge further details on how the show of love terribly backfired on him.

"I arrived well from Kwale, so four days ago I went there to see her. I went with flowers but I came back with them because it passes a message. Right now I'm not emotionally okay in terms of revealing to you all exactly what happened although physically I look like I'm okay but emotionally I cannot say that I'm in a good state of mind to share with everyone who is concerned about me of what happened."

Mboya said he went to Kwale with a heart full of love but returned with a broken heart.

He, however, was cagey with the details, but promised to share more details about what happened at a later date.

"I went to Kwale with love but I've come back with room for more love. Thank you for your concern...more about what happened in Kwale, I'll share it soon."

The digital marketer's tweet went insanely viral for the better part of the weekend after he took to his platform to share his enthusiasm for traveling from Nairobi to Kwale (a whooping 500 kilometers) in a bid to surprise his girlfriend.

Mboya detailed his creative approach; indicating that he had neither called nor texted his girlfriend for the past 24 hours to create the assumption that he had forgotten about her birthday.

He noted that he went to her place of work in a bid to surprise her with flowers.

"I have travelled all the way from Nairobi to Kwale to come and surprise my girlfriend on her birthday. I haven't texted or called her in the last 24hrs, she maybe thinks I forgot it's her birthday. I am waiting for her just outside her office to surprise her. I hope it goes well,"Mboya stated.

To date, the post has garnered a staggering 6.3 million views with over 4,000 comments with influencers, media personalities and prominent names curiously seeking to know what transpired.

"Update us, this is now a matter of national interest," sports journalist Eric Njiru opined.

"What happened?" East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Winnie Odinga posed.

"Kindly use this road in case you visit the beach (Tiwi Beach-Kombani Road), we are upgrading it in a bid to open up Kwale County," Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) stated.

"Earth to Kevin," legendary singer Sheila Mwanyigha chimed in too.

The whole scenario has also spawned a minefield of memes which saw the hopeless romantic become the number one trending topic in Kenya for over 72 hours.
