Kericho County boss Chepkwony nominates Lily Chepngetich as deputy governor

Kericho County boss Paul Chepkwony has nominated Lily Chepngetich Ngok as his deputy governor.

This comes following the death of DG Susan Kikwai who succumbed to COVID-19 complications at the age of 62 at Siloam Hospital.

Governor Chepkwony, in a letter dated March 25, 2021, urged County Assembly Speaker Dominic Rono to expedite the vetting and approval process for Chepngetich to resume office.

“I hereby nominate Ms. Lily Chepngetich Ngok, County Executive Committee Member for Education Sports, Culture and Social Service as the Deputy Governor, County Government of Kericho for the remainder of my tenure of administration…,” read the letter.

“In considering this nomination I have taken into account the fact that the late H.E. Susan Kikwai, OGW hailed from Kipkelion East Sub County and hence the nomination addresses continuity in the distribution of elective seats and gender balance.”

The governor further added: “I confirm that the nominee meets all the requirements for nomination to the post and has all the qualifications, leadership qualities and competencies necessary for such a demanding job.”

Kikwai was laid to rest on Tuesday at her father’s farm in Tugunon village, Kipkelion East Constituency.

Governor Chepkwony paid glowing tributes to the deceased saying she served the county well and lauded her for the loyalty and dedication to her work.
