Kenya records 87 new coronavirus cases, 6 deaths and 67 recoveries

The Ministry of Health has announced 87 new coronavirus cases in the country, tested from a sample of 3,766 in the last 24 hours.

Kenya’s coronavirus caseload now stands at 98,271 while the total number of samples tested so far has risen to 1,092,144.

From the cases, 78 are Kenyans while 9 are foreigners; 58 are male while 29 are females.

The youngest patient is a 5-year-old child while the oldest is 88.

Across the country, the cases are distributed as follows: Distribution of the cases by Counties as follows; Nairobi 36, Busia 17, Uasin Gishu 6, Mombasa 6, Kilifi 5, Homa Bay 3, Kwale 2, Kisumu 2, Nakuru 2, Machakos 1, Taita Taveta 1, Kiambu 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Nyeri 1, Isiolo 1, Kakamega 1 and Makueni 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; In Nairobi the 36 cases are from Westlands (6), Lang’ata (5), Embakasi East (4), Dagoretti North and Kibra (3) cases each, Embakasi West, Kamukunji and Starehe (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Kasarani, Makadara, Mathare, Roysambu and Ruaraka (1) case each. In Busia the 17 cases are from Matayos (14) and Teso North (3).

In Uasin Gishu the 6 cases are from Ainbakoi (3), Kesses, Moiben and Turbo (1) case each. In Mombasa the 6 cases are from Changamwe, Jomvu, Kisauni, Likoni, Mvita and Nyali (1) case each. In Kilifi the 5 cases are from Malindi (3) and Kilifi North (2). In Homa Bay all the 3 cases are from Homa Bay Town.

The 2 cases in Kwale are all from Msambweni, the 2 cases in Kisumu are all from Kisumu Central, and the 2 cases in Nakuru are all from Nakuru East.

The case in Machakos is from Matungulu, the case in Taita Taveta is from Voi, the case in Kiambu is from Ruiru, the case in Trans Nzoia is from Saboti, the case in Nyeri is from Mathira East, the case in Isiolo is from isiolo Town, the case in Kakamega is from Matungu and the case in Makueni is from Makueni.

The Ministry of Health has also announced 67 new recoveries and 6 new fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours.

Kenya’s total recoveries now stand at 80,875 while the death-toll from the pandemic has risen to 1,710.
