Kenya announces 152 new coronavirus cases, 2 deaths and 110 recoveries

The Ministry of Health has announced 152 new cases of the novel coronavirus, tested in the country between Saturday and Sunday.

In a statement sent out to the media, the Health Ministry said 13 of the patients are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.

The new cases are from a sample of 2,224 tests and push the total number of cumulative tests carried out so far to 516,706.

The youngest patient is a 3-year-old child while the oldest is 89.

84 of the new cases are males while 68 are females who now push the country’s total caseload to 36,981.

Distribution of the cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 34 , Mombasa 24, Kisii 20 Kiambu 19, Kisumu 19, Nakuru 10, Turkana 8, Kajiado 3, Kakamega 2, Meru 2, Embu 2, Kericho 1, Marsabit 1, Nyamira 1, Samburu 1, Siaya 1, Uasin Gishu 1, Taita Taveta 1, Machakos 1 and Murang’a 1.

In terms of sub County distribution, the 34 cases in Nairobi, are from Dagoretti North, (8), Embakasi East, Lang’ata and Starehe (4) cases each, Embakasi West (3), Dagoretti South, Embakasi South, and Westlands (2) cases each, Embakasi Central, Kasarani, Kibra Roysambu and Ruaraka (1) case each.

In Mombasa, the 24 cases are from Mvita (8), Jomvu (7), Changamwe (4), Kisauni (3) and Nyali (2).

In Kisii, the 20 cases are from Kitutu Chache South (19) and Bomachoge Borabu (1).

In Kiambu, the 19 cases are from Thika (9), Ruiru (5), Limuru (3), Juja and Kiambu Town (1) case each.

In Kisumu, the 19 cases are from Kisumu Central (14), Nyakach (4) and Kisumu East (1).

In Nakuru, the 10 cases are from Naivasha (4), Nakuru East (3), Nakuru West (2) and Rongai (1), while in Turkana, all the 8 cases are from Turkana West.

In Kajiado, the 3 cases are from Kajiado East, Kajiado North and Loitokitok (1) case each. The 2 cases in Kakamega, are from Lurambi, the 2 cases in Meru, are from Imenti North and Imenti

The Health Ministry has also announced 110 new recoveries which 39 patients who were under the home-based care system and 71 who had been admitted to various hospitals across the country.

The total number of recoveries now stand at 23,887.

Two patients have also succumbed to the virus, pushing the total number of fatalities in the country to 648
