KCPE candidate dies shortly after giving birth in Nyandarua

A Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate died shortly after giving birth, in Aberdares, Nyandarua County on Tuesday, reports say.

Nyandarua County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo, confirmed that the pupil from Pesi Primary school succumbed to excessive bleeding shortly after being admitted at the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.

He said that the girl had reported to the examination centre in a jovial mood on Tuesday morning but experienced labour pains shortly before the morning paper.

The commissioner said the girl was admitted at the Pesi Dispensary, where she delivered a baby boy normally at around 10a.m .

She would be rushed to the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital shortly after with heavy bleeding.

Her newborn baby was also transferred to the safe facility with breathing complications and placed in an incubator.

The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary of the same facility pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere, in Kipiriri another candidate who is said to have been impregnated by her father lost her baby on Monday afternoon after delivery.
