Kamanda booed at Matiang’i event as Wamuchomba, Kuria clash

Nominated MP Maina Kamanda was on Friday booed at a fundraiser where Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was the chief guest.

Kamanda, who is a vocal supporter of the alliance between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga, was booed after he said people will decide who will be President in 2022.

“Ruto! Ruto!” shouted the irate crowd that had gathered at St Peter Gathuthi-ini secondary school in Kirinyaga County near the home of Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

The PS however intervened warning residents against turning the education event into a political arena.

Dr. Matiang’i and his PS further rubbished claims of using their powerful state offices to sabotage and humiliate Deputy President William Ruto.

They insisted that their loyalty is exclusively to President Uhuru Kenyatta who appointed them to Harambee House.

The pro-handshake leaders maintained that the task-force recommendations for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) must be implemented through a people-driven process.

At the same fundraiser, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria clashed with Kiambu Woman Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba.

This after Kuria said the BBI report be passed by members of parliament to which Wamuchomba retorted: “We cannot trust members of Parliament.”

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho who were also present at the function supported Wamuchomba’s stance.
