Wiper leaders to dedicate 15 days to voter registration Kalonzo

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Tuesday directed all Wiper leaders including governors, senators, MCAs and aspirants to set aside the next 15 days and lead in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

Kalonzo, through national executive council (NEC) resolutions read by Secretary General Omar Hassan on Tuesday, said the 15-day window should be used to advocate for mass registration of their supporters as voters in readiness for the 2017 elections.

“The Wiper leader has directed and as NEC we adopted that all Wiper leaders be it governors, senators, MCAs and aspirants to set aside the next 15 days and take leadership in the ongoing voter registration exercise” stated Omar.

The party also announced that the Wiper team would be camping in Malindi from Thursday to campaign for ODM candidate Willy Mtengo ahead of the March 7 by-election.

Kalonzo is expected in Malindi on Thursday accompanied by Hassan, who is also Mombasa Senator, Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke, Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti amongst other Wiper leaders from the coast region.

Mtengo will be facing off with Jubilee candidate Phillip Charo in the election that has been touted as the litmus test on the popularity of both parties in the coast region ahead of the 2017 General Election.

Wiper has also ringed changes in its leadership, appointing Dr Jered Maaka Siso as the new executive director of the Party.
