Jubilee most popular party in Nairobi – poll

Jubilee Party is the most popular political outfit in Nairobi County, according to the latest Infotrak Polls released on Thursday.

The poll shows that Jubilee Party has an approval rating of 43 per cent compared with the newly-found opposition coalition, the National Super Alliance (NASA), which has a rating of 40 per cent.

Senator Mike Sonko, who is eyeing the city governor’s seat, would still trounce his rivals were he to decide to seek retain his seat, the InfoTrak poll revealed.

The controversial senator boasts 35.3 per cent approval ratings against his would-be closest rival nominated MP Johnson Sakaja’s 26 per cent popularity.

However, many Nairobians, 27 per cent, are still undecided on who to vote for various elective positions in the upcoming General Election.

Even though Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh has not yet submitted nomination papers for any political office, she remains the favourite candidate for Nairobi residents trailed by rivals Millicent Omanga, lawyer Karen Nyamu and Wangui Ng’ang’a.

Kitutu Chache Lawmaker, Richard Onyonka, now says that the poll should be an eye-opener for NASA, while his Mukurweini counterpart, Kabando Wa Kabando, predicted a Jubilee Party triump in  Nairobi election in August 8 polls.

“This is a clear reflection of what NASA must do. As the opposition coalition we must look for a credible candidate who is going to run against Sonko if he is going to run. In Nairobi, Sonko is extremely popular for reasons which I think everyone knows,” said Onyonka.
