Jubilee has hidden agenda in withdrawing our security, says Kalonzo

The National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal, Kalonzo Musyoka, now claims that his remaining security detail has been withdrawn, saying that the move is a plot by the Jubilee government to sabotage opposition leaders activities in the country.

Last month, NASA presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, and his running-mate’s  security detail was withdrawn ahead of their planned anti-IEBC protests, leaving the duo with only two bodyguards each after the rest were allegedly re-deployed to North Eastern.

Now the opposition leaders are reading mischief over the withdrawal of their remaining bodyguards ahead of the presidential election.

“Today, the other two officers attached to me have been notified to report back to their stations a week after recalling officers who were moving around with me. I want to tell Jubilee that whichever dubious means they will use against us, NASA, we will not refrain from advocating for reforms in the country,” said Kalonzo.

Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, however, remained adamant that the government will not reverse the move to scale down the opposition supremos security details, accusing Raila and Kalonzo of misusing police officers attached to them by involving them in street protests and public intimidation.

The former vice president now accuses the Jubilee administration of contravening Article 138 of Constitution which states that all presidential candidates in an election should be accorded maximum security.

“If one of the presidential candidates dies, there will be no elections and that is the law. So why are you withdrawing security details?” asked Kalonzo.

The withdrawal of the opposition principals’ security detail has reportedly contributed to their conspicuous absence from the anti-electoral commission street demos.
