IEBC’s Chebukati grilling aborts once again

A second meeting between the chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati and the Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee has failed to take place.

This was after Samson Cherargei, the chair of the Justice and Legal Affairs committee postponed the meeting last minute.

IEBC, who cancelled the first meeting claiming that there were two by-elections; Ruguru and Kinondo wards in Nyeri and Kwale counties respectively.

“We were on our way to honor an invitation by Senate Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights for a meeting this morning when they called to call it off,” said IEBC on their Twitter handle.

The committee had summoned the IEBC boss to appear before the House team on Wednesday but sent an apology citing the Nyeri and Kwale wards by-elections. The remaining two commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu also failed to appear.
